When you lose someone, they say you go through 5 stages of grief –denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance (in no specific sequence). The same principle can be applied to when you ask God or the Universe for something big and life changing and you find yourself in waiting. You go through very similar stages as well. You usually start by praying fervently (God, this is what I desire, this is what I want…), after a while, nothing. Then you move on to pleading (why isn’t this happening God? Please make this happen for me…), then it’s on to negotiating (God, if you make this happen for me within the next month, I’ll do this…), still nothing. We now come to the stage that I refer to as faux-acceptance which pretty much means guilt tripping the Universe (maybe I just don’t deserve to have this…maybe I’m just not meant to be happy).
Now, you can go through the above stages every time you ask God for something or you can save yourself the suffering and heartache and instead, ask, trust that the best is already yours and then surrender. The moment you realize that you can’t bargain your way to happiness and you can’t make things happen faster than they’re supposed to is the moment you begin to have a true understanding of the way the Universe works. God knows exactly what you need and when you need it. I find it interesting that the trees that surround us never worry about whether they’ll get enough water or sunlight. The birds of the air never worry about where their next meal is going to come from. They exist in the moment and take action when needed.
If you find yourself at a dead end job and your ultimate dream is to own your own business, fake it while waiting. Take on more responsibility dress the part and act the part. Use your waiting period to grow and soak up everything that you can use to your advantage in the future. If you’re excited to have a baby and it hasn’t happened yet, go out and buy baby clothes. Prepare for what you’ve asked for and be light-hearted about it. Don’t hold on so tight to that dream that you can’t breathe. Don’t put a time limit on your miracle. It’ll get here when it gets here. Do your part and then let the Universe do its part. Your job is to take inspired action and then let go. The end result is peace.
