I recently spoke about sometimes questioning the purpose of many of the moments (both good and bad) that we experience in life. It’s not unusual that we find ourselves asking “what does it all mean?”. This week I’d like to focus on the moments or experiences that repeat themselves over and over again in our lives. If you find yourself in recurring situations, it may be time to start asking, “why?”.
Things don’t just happen at random. Life experiences are meant to teach us something about ourselves, to grow us and to mature us. We do not get to move on to the next chapter until we’ve finished this chapter’s lesson and passed the test at the end.
Whenever I talk to someone who says, “I’m not sure why I attract bad guys” or “People always treat me badly”, the first thing that I suggest is to look within. The interesting thing is that it’s usually not about other people. It’s about what’s happening within the self. You can’t ever change someone else. The only person you can change is you and that goes for your habits, perceptions and actions. When you fix what’s broken on the inside, your outside situations start to mirror and reflect that perfection.
It’s important to be aware at all times of what your soul is trying to perfect. All you have to do is pay attention and be present to what’s happening around you. If you find yourself constantly being bullied, it could be the God’s way of teaching you to stand up for yourself and trust me, the situation will keep popping up until you take control, find some inner strength and stand up for yourself. If you find yourself constantly in bad relationships, then maybe it’s a challenge to start recognizing your worth and realize that you deserve so much more.
Like I said, nothing happens to us in this journey by accident and nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know.
Here’s to a week of awareness and change.
