“Food” for Thought: Almond

Almond: Almond is the seed of the fruit of the almond tree. Sweet almond is the edible one whilst the bitter almond is used for making oil that is mostly used as a flavoring agent for foods. Almonds are ancient in origin. They are now grown in Mediterranean regions including Spain, Italy, Morocco, Portugal as well as California. Almonds are a good source of manganese and copper, two trace minerals that fight free radicals. They also help in preventing gall stones, lower risks of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer. Some people are allergic to Almonds just like some other foods.
