Mission

The mission of the Zion City of the Lord Prayer and Deliverance Ministries is to set free the captives, who are in bondage of sin, sickness and demonic attack through the power of the Word. To break fetters and shackles by the truth that is revealed in the Word.

History
Pastor Oloruntele Opakunle was born into a Nigerian family that single-handedly embraced and supported one of the earliest Christian missionaries to the west coast of Africa. David and Hannah Hinderer brought Christianity to Ibadan, the largest city in Africa, where Chief Mele, the great-grand father of Pastor Tele Opakunle welcomed them with open arms. He went on to donate a piece of land to the missionaries where the first Christian church in that city and its immediate environ was built. In appreciation of this unique gesture, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the Mele family by the then Queen of England. The children of the Mele family were also provided access to western education. Needless to say that the Christian education made available to the off-springs of Chief Mele provided sound foundation for the Christian faith embraced by many who came into contact with them. The calling of Tele Opakunle into the Ministry came as early as when she was a baby. There were prophecies as to where the Lord was leading her. This vision started to unfold when she gave her life to our Lord Jesus Christ in 1987. She has since moved from height to greater height in the Lord’s Vineyard. She has become a respected prophetess and visionary whom the Lord has consistently used as a vessel for ministration and deliverance to people all over the world. Dr. Wilfred Opakunle was also born into a Christian family. His grandfather also had the unique privilege of housing pastors and ministers of God in his family buildings. The vision to serve the Lord however came to Dr Opakunle while he was working as a Chief Pharmacist in a Military Hospital in Saudi Arabia. The worship of our Lord Jesus, which had hitherto been taken for granted became an underground affair. This led to a new awakening in the ways of the Lord. Throughout his ten year tenure in Saudi Arabia, he boldly preached the Word to those who were prepared to listen at a very high risk since the practice of any other religion in Saudi Arabia was not permitted under Saudi Constitution. In the fall of 1999, Wilfred and Tele Opakunle heeded the Word and established in their home, as directed by the Spirit, The Zion City of the Lord Prayer and Deliverance Ministry, ZPDM. They were instructed to turn their home into a shelter for the spiritually wounded and afflicted. Today, there is a network of people across the United States and other nations of the world who share their burdens under the umbrella of the ZPDM, receiving ministration and counseling by telephone and e-mail. Through this ministry many have been delivered from spiritual bondage and affliction. Many have also been empowered with the Word, establishing in them the Truth that sets captives free.

Beliefs
We believe in the verbal inspiration and authority of the Scriptures.

We believe that the Bible reveals God, the fall of man, the way of salvation and God’s planned purpose throughout the ages.

We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that salvation is “by grace” plus nothing minus nothing.

We believe that men are justified by faith alone and are accounted righteous before God only through the merit of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We believe in the visible, personal, and second coming of Jesus Christ.
